Black Moshannon State Park is a short drive from State College as is Bald Eagle State Park.  Check them out on the Reports and Conditions link.

Lived in Lock Haven for 8 years and worked at BAld Eagle State Park for 3 years. Bald Eagle is probably the best crappie lake in the state in sure numbers of fish, size has always been an issue. Hunters Run cove has good ice and alot of fish. Check it out

Lake Colyer has a couple nice perch, gills and crappies if you can find them.  Theres also a bunch of hammer handle pickeral and small bass that can keep you running if you like tipup fishing.  good fishin

On the weekends Hunters Run looks like one of those ice fishing tournaments you see in Minnesota.  50 or 60 people standing on 5" of swiss cheese.
