Jag 440
« on: Jan 21, 2014, 08:51 PM »
1986 Artic Cat Jag 440 won't start below 10 degrees and when it does start runs almost like choke is open. But its not I assume its a crab adjustment, any thoughts? Runs/starts like new over 10 degrees

When was the last time the carbs were cleaned? What fuel do you use, high octane?

Try shorting out the kill switch.

Had a similar problem on my 75 Pantera, it was electrical connection for kill switch.  Got a good connection and it was fine.

You should be running 92-93 octane in that machine. Preferably no ethanol. Lower octne fuel with ethanol will gum the carbs up real quick even if just recently cleaned. You may need to adjust the jetting in the carbs as well.

NOt sure that a machine that old has one. But some sleds have a throttle postion sensor that detects when you have your thumb against the throttle. If that sensor goes bad it will do the same thing
Fishing is like playing at Carnegie Hall, when your good your good. But do you know how to get to Carnegie Hall? PRACTICE!
