open water trout fishing?

I was wondering if you can fish(open water) for trout on some lakes now? The regs state that ice fishing is permitted but seeing that the lake in question never froze over can you cast for them before April first?

any of the lakes that you can fish on during open water will say in the regulations....open all year. most of these waters are trout waters. if it says ice fishing permitted and has trout in it i would get ahold of the DEC and find out for sure if you can fish it open water before april 1st. being as you can fish for perch and sunfish year round most places that have them along with trout will say ice fishing permitted and if it says that under the specific regulations for trout on that lake it will say open all year. like i said, any water that i would worry about is one that has trout in it.
