One Last Trip
« on: Mar 06, 2021, 07:26 PM »
I broke the gear and sled out of hibernation, only went into hibernation a little over a week ago, and took my son out for one last trip on the ice today.  The ice in my area is mostly shot on our favorite spots.  I know some eastern CT spots are still holding ice but they are not the spots I’m familiar with.

I took my son to a spot I know.  I haven’t fish it in 25 yrs or more though.  We picked up 2 dozen shiners at Fish Connection in Preston this morning and drove 1.5 hrs to Stillwater Pond.  I used to fish there regularly with my dad back when I was a kid.

We got what we hoped for, lots of action!  Total for the day:

2 LMB 13.5” and 16”
5 pickerel between 12” and 17”
7 perch
1 bluegill

We kept the perch for a fry tomorrow night.

Great way for my young son to end the season!  Gear is going to be put away again now as we have other great activities to focus on....Good luck and be safe to those who are still fishing on the ice!
