Hard to know without exact models. I will say that I would rather drill holes by hand and have a flasher than use a power auger and have no flasher, if that makes sense.

Same here, I'd rather work up a little sweat and have the ability to locate fish.

Not saying you havent outdone your own personal bests without it, but I would love to sit side by side with you and prove your theory wrong. Same set-up and location, you should always catch more with the finder.

I have seen so many great sunfish bites turned cold from vexs I wouldn't want you fishing next to me..

I only used sonar for 20 years on the ice.. What do I know..

Lake Erie walleye... OK.. But no panfish, unless I want dinkville... I'm OK if everyone thinks I'm nutz .. I have taken limits of bulls while others are trying to set the hook on smerch and rebaiting...

I got nothing against you flasher guys, just don't fish within 40 ft of me.

And good luck!!

A strick master is probably a cheap knock off brand of the Strikemaster, I would definitley trade it for the flasher, unless the flasher is a marks 'um instead of a Marcum.

That's a new one to me with the fish being turned off with a flasher.

I never said that...

In shallow water, the "hit" from a sonar can be felt by their lateral line and they get lock jaw...

Read the last couple pages of this thread, all this talk of "marking" fish... Well I didn't mark anything, but I caught some..

Interesting theory.  I'll go without a flasher next time and just use my Marcum VS625SD Cam and see if we fare better

It gives gills lock jaw? How shallow of water are ya talkin? Idk how picky a gill can be, but I've caught walleyes before, that were 6ft under the ice in 34fow, piles of perch and gills in 6-36fow(ratio of 15 or 20/1, dinks/jumbos and bulls)on really good days, but I've never noticed anything negative about vexilar in shallows. Except maybe degree of the transducer beam, but that's another animal...perhaps yer experience with this is lake specific...

I use my flasher in 3ft of water quite frequently and I can assure you they do not care. I almost always outfish everyone else around me. What gets me is if the fish are too high for my flasher to where i cannot see them, then the bobber guys do just as well.

Everyone I fish with always says the same thing... I dont need a flasher. Then I outfish them 20:1 because I can see how the fish are reacting and they are just jigging blind.
