You would catch more fish. Bigger fish. I like slot limits. They work. Yes, the down side is you can’t take as many home as you use to.
Well a year or 2 with 5 fish limit will help with the eye population , plus boost local economy
Trap you think the 6in fish are from over populations or do the 7 inch plus fish get harvested quick as soon as they are big enough,,,,
go fish the lake in fulton or black lake and see how many shorts you get......where 30 years ago we hammered slobs now you hammer 8 inch fish
agree never heard much about crappies 30yrs ago ..... oneida has gone threw alot of changes, i will say this and maybe its just "remembering when" but back before lake maps gps i would line the tree wit the tower etc find the spot and not many people would now why i was fishing that area, and even if they did was likely they could find it again, seems like you had to put a lil more time an effort back then, and the minority of guys had the knowledge.....
Did this get passed never heard for sure,,,,, also I dont think we had the harvest numbers 30yrs ago as we do now, theres way better equipment elctronics and lake mapping, I can recall before gps and lake maps that i had a number of areas that never got much pressure because people either couldnt find them or didnt know they were there...
Dont know if its going to hold up with the wind they got predicted but starting around wednesday cold temp so theres hope...... Just curious whats people thoughts on slot limit say 15 to 18in keeper size
Better wait on changing anything until we see if they continue to rape the lake by not returning any fry. Once done and its easier the second time. I’ve heard several times that Oneida gets hers first and then adjust the other stockings. So much for that. None put back last year.. Save $$$ And don’t place a net this year....
Any regulation change will be in 2022. 5 eyes is a good probability.Cornell found that the health of the walleyes this fall was poor. I think it was the worst since the 60s. The main factor was the lack of shad this summer for food. The perch on the other hand were very healthy mainly because they are still gorging on gobies.
ive found that everything eats the gobies,,,,,walleyes to sheepheads
I’ve found very few eyes with gobies in their bellies , that’s hard and soft water , ones that had bait had perch ,buckeyes ,a few with banded kill fish , bullhead fry , perch I've cleaned lots with gobies in them ,
