Ha. It's not all that crowded where crayfish2 and I are set up. Only 3 flags so far. 2 wind and 1 dropped bait. You catching them hideebeez?
Perch bait- a small minnow that can have big results in the ice fishing game.  :icefish:

I've got a few lakers Friday. Saturday nothin! Left at 2. Water was stained everywhere I went. Hopefully Sunday will be better. I miss having cell phone service though. Fishing there for two days already has me feeling like some mountain man off the grid

That pic is from a ducks unlimited event and it’s actually really cool. If you want to whack it out just google ducks unlimited ice fishing

I dropped one of those down today as bait and lost what I will conservatively call in excess of 20 lbs

Don't judge the guy, to each their own. I guess some folks REALLY like ice fishing.

I’d be careful using burbot as bait... not on the list, finenis pretty hefty.

I was just reading the baitfish guidelines... It has a list of approved species which doesn't include yellow perch, but then below states that yellow perch can be caught and used on the same body of water. I've seen people do this with sunnies/bluegill/white perch, is that illegal then? Why can't you use fish that you could typically keep as bait, especially cut bait?

Check the "Baitfish Use and Restrictions"
http://www.eregulations.com/vermont/fishing/general-requirements-definitions-prohibitions/
You can use bluegills, sunfish, perch, rock bass, smelt, and white perch (Champlain only) as bait, just can't transport them off the ice and they have to be caught through fishing, not a minnow trap. The longer list is for species that you can trap and then use, without transporting off of the water.
