The Hali is great for perch but is fairly expensive compared to a Sitka Smelt . Can anyone tell me their experience with the Sitka since it is a couple bucks cheaper?

I forgot to mention that it will be used for perch and trout fishing, not for Smelt fishing.  Thanks!

In my area which is by the Iowa Great Lakes. The Shuck's Jigger was made which also goes by the name pilki (pill-key) I was told they were the first/original dropper chain for perch. I have quite a few anf the perch size ones were $1.79 when i bought them. Not sure what they are now, but hands down the best perch droper rig I've fished.

I even took them up to devils lake and used it with a guide who told me it wouldnt work. It caught a lot of fish.

Another nice thing is they come in tubes so the chains don't get tangled when storing. the larger 2in is a great walleye pike lure

Where can you get these online or store? Have you used these over a Hali? Thanks

the mono dropper works fine if you use good fishing line. You can take any spoon and mmake your own with a mono dropper. I've done it and put small jigs on the bottom. Worked well spoon to attrach jig to catch.

I replaced all my chains on my Hali's with a Northland snelled sting'r hook. No more kinks.
