Fellow shantys, just wanted to give a quick report...I've have hit several back lakes north of Kingston and in 3 trips have got into walleye everytime. Cannot recommend safe ice conditions anywhere after the warm spell but I can tell you to keep checking your honey holes cause the fish are biting if you can get to them! Buckshot spoon has been hot so far! Good luck!

You're a little farther north than me. Here in NNY, I'm sitting around going... :cookoo: If we don't get fishable ice soon, they'll be taking me away in a straight jacket. ;D

It is what it is. Sadly, I've been ready for a while now for ice fishing. I'll stick with steelhead for a little while yet while we wait for some colder temps. I'm in the SW of the province. Usually last to freeze up. :)

Wish I was more familiar with the back lakes. Have been out a couple times so far but with minimal results. With colder temps starting tonight, might just be able to tiptoe again next weekend somewhere north!!

I am going nuts waiting.. I got new gear for christmas and I can't wait to try it out. I live in kingston, so far no safe ice in my area.. Temps drop this week though, so hoping soon!

Anybody know of any safe ice within a couple hours driving from kingston??  ??? I might have to take a drive if things don't freeze up soon. I was out in Rockport/Gananaque area yesterday and I did see a few bays with a skim layer but thats it.
