bored playin around with plastics
« on: Jan 31, 2020, 06:24 AM »
always liked the puddle jumper plastics because of their horizontal moves.  so I started cutting shapes and playing around.  anyone know of anything shaped like this?  pretty much a flattened out Indiana blade shape with a longer thinner tail. almost like the end of a paddle tail bass worm.

guess I cant drag drop a vid on here.  looks pretty good swimming in my tank.

just picture the end of a paddle tail worm hooked twice on a jig so it rides flat. got some flying lure type moves. lol

I been feeding the bass in my tank bologna strips. I cut this shape out of bologna and it worked the same.  not very tuff but they ate it. if I had ice I would try it out. ;D

Was it threaded onto the jig hook, or just hooked thru the front?

Does it have a flexible body or is it a stiffer-than-usual plastic?

Besides these comments, it does look good, and depending one what you are targeting, I can see larger predatory fish finding it very attractive!

I hooked it twice. down threw and back up threw.  thicker material you could just hook threw like normal plastics.

I think a hotdog would be a little stiff for a ned rig!  Definitely not nearly as good as action of the bologna.   The bologna did look good in the tank though and we all know it would catch fish.

duly noted roeboat.  probably have to rip it in strips and use it like the old "porkos".  I loved those things for deep bass.

since I made you guys look at bologna, here, like underdog always said, heres something youll really like.  ;D

my uncle grew this thing accouple years ago. a 19# turnip. and it was still good to eat not woody or hallow.

its the new biggest turnip on youtube! lol

these lil hellgrammite looking plastics are made by local guy.  they swim pretty well and will probably get picked over the bologna baits. hehe

You got to get out on the ice SOON RS!  Unfortunately I think you're going to have to wait another week.

Got a few nice ones today without bologna!!!

I HATE turnips. The bigger they are the worse they are. Only thing worse is a rutabaga. We called them "Rude Beggers" when we were kids.

Sorry :-\

From plastics to bologna to hot dogs to turnips to rutabagas. It's what's for dinner.  ;D

That's an awfully small turnip.
Probably because the seeds were from the tiny state of Texas.
Here in Alaska we grow some veggies that really are big.
Our state turnip record is 39# 3oz.
Ruttabaga record here is over 80#.
Cabbage record is 138#+.
Heck I'm not a competitive grower and I grew 30# cabbages last year with minimal effort.

Not for me!
While our ice was later than normal we are doing good now.
When I was out the other day we had 17" of good solid ice.
Just wanted to point out a possible reason why the OP's turnip post wasn't getting the responses he was expecting that's all.
