Frabill Standard Ice Chisel
« on: Dec 01, 2013, 08:12 PM »
Hi Folks,

I just picked up a Frabill spud bar, they call it their "Standard Ice Chisel".  It is a basic one-piece unit and sells for around $19.00.  I took the blade guard off to look at the business end expecting it to be pretty sharp and found that there is really no sharp edge at all.  It is just a painted dull edge.  Is the spud supposed to be used without a sharp edge?  Should I sharpen it?  Thanks!

It is a basic good spud that does the job. I sharpened mine after a year on a grinder. Quick and easy.

That's for shipping just put it on the grinder, and it will make the ice fly!
