For pan fish I like to start out with a 1/24 or 1/12 oz. kastmaster  or  small  swedish pimple  then move onto others from there...

Start out with a slender spoon,  then go to tungsten, or a different kind of spoon.

For bluegills and crappies, Lindy toads and Fat Boys have worked well for me. However, I picked up some CJ&S chekai tungsten jigs that I am excited to try this season!

my favorites for most fish:
Custom Jigs & spins--diamond jig Clown or Fire Tiger color pattern tipped with red wedgie plastic (also from CJ &S)

I also really like Northland's Bro Bugs (red bloodworm color)

I always have rigged both a silver/blue Kastmaster and CJ & Spins slender spoon..gold with chartreuse
I often tip those with plastics as well, or in combo with maggots
I use a lot of Ratsos too...black, chartreuse, or glow

Wow, I am surprised to see kastmaster and slender spoons.   Tried both a lot last year and don't think I caught a single fish.  Are you tipping with waxies?  Are the fish super active?  I lost all confidence in both, but clearly they work for some.

Don't get into Walleye much, but for Bluegills, CJ&S Diamond in chartreuse. For Crappie I'm not sure I have a favorite. But I normally use a horizontal jig with a chartreuse head, small white plastic tail and tipped with a waxie.

I've tried different spoons, but have never caught a fish on one.

So far this season, CJ&S 4.5 mm Chekai jig in pink tiger glow and clown have turned wax worms into bluegills and crappies for me! 😉

Just as well jump in here also---1/16oz. gold buck shot tipped with minnow head. I have never had much luck with jigging rap type baits. When gill fishing pretty much anything tungsten.

I-Hawk:
Yes, I tip them, either with waxies or maggots, or just add like maki plastics, CJ & spins, ratsos or wedgies...oftentimes, I'll put small contrast color plastic and then tip spoon with live bait. Then instead of constantly rebaiting, I'll squish a maggot or two on the plastic and spoon to get some of the scent on it.
I catch everything on the spoons (both Kastmasters and slender spoons) gills, crappies, perch, bass, walleyes, catfish, wipers, sunfish. I tie directly, but have used the quick snaps too.

I personally like the silver/blue kastmaster and for the slender spoon, gold with chartreuse flake.

I use both vertical and horizontal jigs.  I stick to neon and glow colors mostly.  My go to is a glow green horizontal an 1/32 oz.  I also fish a copper pimple a lot.  Bigger stuff is the small chubby darter.

Thanks to the folks who listed the slender spoon and encouraged me to give it another try.  I had good luck with it on crappies and a few decent gills Friday night.  Learned quickly I tied it on the wrong rod, as I kept running out of room and smacking the roof of my shack lifting it to keep the fish rising.  Really cool to attract a fish, jig it up in the water column and see / feel the bite.  I missed quite a few as they were hitting it on the fall when my line was slack.
