A limit of keepers
« on: Dec 29, 2009, 05:46 PM »
I hit the ice today and got my limit of crappies (25) within 4 hours, all 10"- 12 1/2". I caught many smaller crappies, gills and a fat old channel cat (guess 4# range).I tried many jigs like little mic, jigging raps, ballsy's and others but the only thing I could get them to bite on was the tetr-totr with spikes.

Looks like you had a fun day Lee, everyones sink needs to look like that ;D. You said you were using spikes, do you prefer them over waxies for crappie?

I never buy waxies any more. Spikes to me are 10 times the bait. If I want bouncy like a waxie, I'll just add a couple more spikes to the hook. Almost all the guy's I fish with has switched from waxies to spikes as well. If you have not used them your missing the boat bud.

there is a long and short version and profile. these use to be really popular but now only in certain areas. here are a few to take a look at. they dont produce everyday but when they work they work great..
tons of colors out there so just go with your fav.. i like the shorties but always carry both!

We call them wigglers here.  Those, and the small Wolfram jigs are the best for me.   www.yourbobbersdown.co m
