We need to get that tournament going. Then the proof will be in the fish entered :)

I need Tyvek and a day off to go to a graphics store and get them printed up.  Anybody got any spare pieces laying around to get it started.
I was born an Alaskan I just didn't live here at the time.

Hi All,

well it is finally nice to find a group of laker enthusiast, even if you all tell fish stories.  I am totally for the LL Derby and would gladly help in anyway, I have put together a few fishing derbies and rules and what not in the past.  and as for the measuring device I have an idea, and I have inquired, but am still waiting to hear back on that information.

I do have one question for everyone though... Even thought this is a catch and release derby, isn't there some concern that this might be increasing the fishing pressure on the laker fishing on all of the lakes and even more handling of some of these fish?  just thought I would throw that out there.

If you have a shack then I see no problem handling the lakers.   I usually pick them up long enough for a picture and then toss em back.  Getting them to lay flat at -20 (which is most days at LL if not colder) and collecting an accurate length may cause more harm than good.  I'm sure a few more people will fish LL, but with the long drive, money involved and overall slow fishing I don't think there will be much more pressure.

It's a sort of a local thing. You will only no about it here, from the lodge or word of mouth. But most people wont drive the 3 or 4 hrs with out a financial incentive that is much larger.

I guess my thought there is that if a few people are on the fence about fishing any of those lakes but have the chance to win some money they might actually try.  No catching fish is a whole nother story... Also there are a ton of property owners up there that don't fish but might try here and there no with a $5 a day entry fee, why not... Again I am not against it, especially since it is being setup as a catch and release style derby.  But I just would hate for any extra pressure or more miss  handling of fish to occur than needed.

I went. Only 1 dude and dudette fishing. Zero traffic in front of the cabin.

Whoever has the Green Mini.... any closer and you will have to pay rent! ;)

Bad ice fog Friday. Great weather. LL weather was wrong. I don't think it made is lower than a couple degrees below zero. Overflow not as bad as last trip.

Mile 68 area has a pilot car. Looks like the road fell into the river. Just past King River about a mile. Should be fixed in a few more days.

He needed one as his new one lost the coil. It is in my shop waiting for a part. All I had was a 6" old Jiffy that hasn't ran in several years. He was fighting the oncoming cold front with problems from the last one still.

I was helping a friend with cabin wiring issues. What a nightmare.

He has some issues with sewer etc that are not up to his standards. They got hit hard with some really cold weather and some lines got frozen, that aren't easy to thaw. He also lost his main gen set and had to get another one. Once he gets opened back up, we need to give him some business so he can get back on track.

Just kiddin' ya. Tree is worthy of some help.

Wiring done by one of those people with just enough knowledge to screw it up royally?   ::)

I smell what you're stepping in. -30 is the max because it goes -50 when it feels like it. Expensive stuff breaks!

Yeah we're from Seward. My bro was in it last week.

I saw that it was towed out then put back on the beach. If you see a yellow Tundra..... grab a beer or something. ;)

You should have been outside 2 weeks ago when it was real cold.  So far this week its been down right tropical.  I hate working in the winter.
