Oregon should have some great fishing, diamond being the most prominent in people's minds. The only problem most people face is that it has to be done on the other side of the cascades, although there's some to be had closer to home ie marrion in Santiam pass and some of the high lakes around mt hood, most are not easy to get to do to mountain conditions or the effort of hiking snow covered trails. For ice fishing to gain any large popularity here it would take portlanders to be willing take long weekend and go fish, as well as the fish and game to make it more well known that ice fishing can be done in more places than the hand full of lakes that have received recognition. I hope ice fishing gains a larger foot hold here, after all if we can launch dory boats directly in to ocean surf and deal with the hog lines on the Columbia than what's a little snow and ice.
