I'm still hand drilling them with the 8". Wouldn't mind a power auger with this thick ice we have.

Fished Constantia today.  Got 1 keeper eye right away then a few dink perch.  Moved 6x and finally landed on some fish around 1pm in 25'.  BB4 and I chipped away at them for a few hours and ended up with approximately 2 dozen decent perch and a burbot.  Jiggin raps mostly.

I left my place in muskrat bay at 5:15 this morning and headed to grassy shoals on the wheeler. I got there and set up in the dark and started to fish. I have to say it was pretty impressive to watch all the fishermen coming out in droves from every conceivable direction around the lake. By 9-10 o'clock there was a solid line of fishermen from dakin shoals west all the way down the backside of the islands past bouy 133. A lot of people moving around but there were a lot of kids having fun. It's amazing how this sport has taking off over the last few years. Great to see!

I've got a 2 cycle power auger that I would like to start using again, its been 3years since I used it. My question is about all the complaining about them, I'd not want to become the bad guy with the power auger. What's  the opinion?
sell it and buy the clam cordless drill adapter, only way to go

I just bought a 2 stroke strike master lazer 8 inch power auger, but I'm in reasonable shape and haven't fired it up, only reason I bought it is if we get 2 feet of snow, then it turns to slush and refreezes, we could have 30 inches of ice in early march, then there will be a run on power augers and there won't be any around, just thinking ahead, like my monster jigging rap order in November...until then I'll keep being quiet and hand drilling, the ice is hard and thick, 12-16 inches I measured, no reason too not use a power auger if you own one... If I was on a hot hole at 4pm, I sure wouldn't reopen them with a power auger, I'd spud them open the next morning.  Everyone knows I believe noise hurts the bite.

X2
I don't want to start a debate about the cost or effectiveness or how many holes they will drill on a charge but I love mine. Just received the extension for it yesterday. Drills through the ice with ease, is light, quiet, and super compact!

I use an electric Lazer.  Works great.  It's quiet and can drill enough holes on a charge.  If it runs out, I plug it into the wheeler. As soon as we have enough ice for the wheeler I start using it.  I use a hand drill when I walk.

hand drilling is the only way to go. I've got a 5,6 and 7'' laser augers all depends on the snow, gosh darn clam shanty pulls hard. gotta stay light as possible.  Keep your bar on your saws guys their chain saws made to be in the woods. I will be the clam out in the middle of nowhere away from the crowd
