Hey diehards,  when specifically targeting perch do you use tip downs or do you just jig for them.  Thanks

If the temps are above freezing or close I like to use tip downs and jig.

I don't use them but fish with someone who kills them on tip downs and large buckeyes. Funny part is when I am getting them jiggin his tip downs are slow.  When the jiggin slows down his tip downs pick up. There are days I can't buy a bite and his tip downs go all day. It does need to be a light wind day above freezing or the difficulty level rises fast.

I usually set up my tip downs straight out my window for perch and then jig for the eyes.

Wellp. Didn't get any eyes or burbot tonight but I found some perch. Went off Lewis. Wind was killer today. Can't wait for the next couple days. It's gonna feel like a heat wave

Going out Thursday off Lewis Point.  Is there still enough snow for a sled or has the wind blown it all away?

L

I'll be out off Lewis tmmrw too. There was plenty of snow for a sled out there tonight. Occasional glare ice. Hoping the wind dies down

Kind of a lurker but in the way of like a person gets attached to a reality tv show.  I would have to have the time to use this info to feel guilty about not contributing.

Anyway, been to Chapmans a couple times and was wondering if anyone knew of a spot to park on the south shore about 10am this weekend. Since that's about when I can get my kids to the lake with an hour drive.  Can bring the wheeler and get places. Just don't want to get up there with no where to park.
Thanks!

I am a tip down guy...when the jigging gets tough...the tip downs can make you the man. A little breeze, nice little #4 gold aberdeen hook 12 to 18 " up from the bottom and bingo your on the run every time a school comes through. I swear by them for perch. I made my own and actually have given all but 5 away...just to educate folks on their potential for increasing your numbers of fish!!!
When I go fishing I like to know that there's nobody within five miles of me.

Weekend is looking good, it's gonna feel like a heat wave.  Anybody know how big the drifts are out there, my friend wants to know if he should bring his 2 x 2 wheeler or his sled.  I would just tell him to bring his sled but it is kinda of a beater.

small drifts Matt 4-5" , rougher than a cob ,but the snow is like concrete

slow day for me ,where I was fishing they moved like they had a lead weights attached to their tails , caught 5 eyes and one 8 striper, ice was 12" on the button

coming up again this weekend from philly. went out of taft last weekend and was good access and parking. wanting to try godfrey's, but we have a 20foot trailer. is there enough parking? can we take our atv out from there? think I remember one comment saying there was an ice heave that was to big but not sure. thanks

Tons of parking at Godfrey. There was a big heave across the mouth of the launch but the trail just to the left was fine as of last week.

I don't think the south shore launch fills up, not far from chapman.

Oneida lake virgin (first time I have said that in a while) here.  My sister in-law has a place on Norcross point and I am looking for a direction to head for the endless walleye and perch I have read so much about.  Willing to pay my dues and not looking for anybodies honey hole, just a general direction.  Have compass, bike and kids so I am looking to keep them interested.  Willing to share info on southern ADK lakes for those interested.  Thanks for any help that is given.

fished this afternoon with my grandson. ended up with 35 gills, and 2 crappies. the wind was brutal, and the ride there was rough. the drifts are harding up.   Sully...

I wouldn't be able to make a return on my money. I would have to put you as a 1 to 5 favorite over anyone. I would love to enter a tournament with you on the tip down and me with my tiny jigs and spikes.
