Motorcycle on ice you say? Is this you?
hehe I think those of us dragging sleds are doing something wrong  :P don't ask how I found that vid. I'm a motorhead

Awesome video, so much fun...I actually used to ride on YZ450F out on the lakes just like that. Now I have the old man BW200 powerhouse, still fun.

Messenger appears to have cleared out 75-80% of guys gone.  Was hoping for something better, still occasionally picking at them but its a tough day.  Bout time to wrap it up & watch some football

Minettoman... I ordered a pack from Mills Fleet Farm (great place, by the way) when placing an order for something else. Only bought one pack as a trial. Gotta buy more. They come in all kinds of colors.

Maki's work good too...you can get those locally at Bartel Road Bait.

Yep...I think I am on an eelpout bed, because they are constantly showing up there. They are somewhat of a pain to me, because I can tell when they are under me. I can recognize the distinct line they paint on my graph, and the way they look when they come up for the lure. When they are around, the other fish shy away. Once I catch the one that is there, the other fish start to feed again. They are so tough that they can live in a bucket in the shanty for a while, so I usually keep them til I leave and let them go...or go drill a hole a couple hundred yards away and release them. The weather was too nasty yesterday to do that. Just decided to clean them and give them a try this time.

DD - since you are the burbot chef...I have a question for you. The tail sections are thin, and there is pink fat on them, which I assume will affect the taste. If I try to skim-cut it off (like Lake Ontario Browns), the fillet will be too thin to make much of. Do the tail sections taste fishy?? The shoulders are a different story. I like the looks of them, and can tell that they will be great.
Jim, I have never noticed a fishy taste to them at all, The fatty stuff cooks away.

Well the Big O had its way with me today. My first trip to these waters ended as a humbling one. Went in off Godfrey, fished between 16 and 32 ft in about 20 different holes... Didn't mark a single fish. I did however catch a Zebra Mussel, not quite a prize but definitely  pretty funny to reel in my jig to find a mussel attached. Hope everyone else did better than me!

Haven't posted in awhile but here goes. Fished north shore, ice was good 9 inches. Only had to drill one set of holes today. Got my eyes quick this morning and downed sized my lure to work on some perch.  Left the ice at 11:00 with my limit of eyes and a dozen jumbo perch. I was fishing in 25fow. Green seemed to be the hot color early on and switching to blue when the sun came out seemed to be the key today. Snow was not really that bad imo and I walked today.

Anyone ever try bucktail jigs through the ice? I use them in soft water a lot. A few I have are meant for vertical jigging. I'm gonna try em next time I go out. Rummaging through my softwater tacklebox for goodies :p

I have heard of guys getting them on bucktails through the ice but I have never tried it. I am sure it would work especially if you added a buckeye.

Apps has them minettoman, in several colors. As you walk in, they are on the wall to your right. ;) (Impulse by northland)

I too saw the emergency vehicles at Lewis Point Friday night.  There was some talk about a man going through.  Has this been confirmed?  Does anyone have any details?

Not sure if you're talking about bleeding the fish or getting meet outta the cheeks, but if you've never had walleye nuggets you're missing out! I don't bleed the fish I eat. I put the fillets or meat in a water and salt solution in a Ziploc bag or Tupperware then leave it in the fridge for a night to pull the blood out

Headed to the north shore today in search of some eyes with the younger brother and family friend and his son. Tough tough bite for us. Fished from 20-32' foot of water. Marked very few fish but the ones we did shot up off the bottom and hit with little to no work.  Ended up only finding the perch and keeping a few.  Congratulations to those who were able to get on the fish this weekend. Well see what next week brings.
Take it for what it's worth
