Mix it up. Experiment. it sorta depends on forage base and the mood of the fish. I'll usually start off with a Marmooska or Ratso (verticle). Then, switch to a jigging spoon (horizontal) if the action picks up, or suddenly slacks off. Switching usally adds a few more fish out of a hot hole. If you are lazy like me  ::), keep a few rods set up with diffent lures to make it easy to switch up your presentation.

stay versatile always I use a little of everything and agree that switching up when it slows will usually
trigger a couple more fish     Variety is the spice of life they say.  I dont know who they are but thats what they say!!

Same here. After using my camera I got to using more horizontal after watching fish bite my jigs. Always have vertical jigs on one of my rods.  Fish want dif presentations at dif times.

Anyone ever try Custom Jigs and Spins "Toadies"...they're a horizontal jig. I bought some earlier this winter before we had ice and haven't tried them yet...WK
