In need of a Road trip
« on: Dec 27, 2012, 07:40 PM »
Hello to all MI,  IS posters.  I'm looking for a lake to ice fish this weekend. I live in northwest ,IN. I just don't know the lower Michigan lakes that well.  I was wondering if I could get some help.   How far do I need to drive to get on some safe ice.  Please post or pm me if you have any ideas, info  or lakes I could fish. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Don't know for sure but it sounds like u might have to head up past grand rapids...... All us sw michiganders I'm sure will be announcing when our local lakes are good... Possibly some smaller ones ready tomorrow?????

I agree.  If you want good ice you might want to call up more towards Big Rapids or Cadillac to see how the ice is.  I don't think SW Michigan will have ice on the larger waters for another week or so as long as we keep the same temps we've been having.  We need 3 or 4 good days of temps in the teens.

If I remember right, an ice report said saint helens had 3-5 inches.
