I made a gear sled very similar to this this year, and that milk crate thing is a great idea. But do you have any trouble with it trying to tip or slide out when the bucket is full of water?
Nice job, one of my sleds was 3 milk crates wire tied together and skis uner the thing. It made things lots lighter
That's a good idea, but how will it pull in a foot of snow? Just thinking of the crates being so low to the ground and all. This is what I did to my jet sled to make life a bit easier. This season it will be pulled behind my sled!!!(Image removed from quote.)
brilliant idea using the roof rack funny thing...most of us can probably afford to just buy a store bought whatever but we still insist on the DIY approach
If I can buy it for $100 I'll spend $150 to build it myself.
NEED SOME JET SLED ADVICE..... To raise my Jet Sled up off the snow, I mounted it to snow skis by attaching four (4) wood blocks 2" x 4" x 6" High to the four corners of the sled. It pulls fine on a flat surface (ice or snow) but sways from side to side and will turn over on un-even snow or going up / down a hill. How can I stabilize that side to side sway??
I don't know why you raised it. It is made to drag on the snow. I would say you are loading it wrong. Keep the heavier items in the back and it will pull better. If you still want to have it raised, you will need to spread out the skis at least six inches on each side.
I made this on Saturday.(Image removed from quote.)
Okay, I'm sure you have all seen the hooks that Frabill sells for portable shanties. The piece of bent wire on a velcro strap that they sell at 6 bucks for two pack. Well I thought to myself why buy it when I can make it.What do you think?.(Image removed from quote.)
