Day on Bantam
« on: Dec 30, 2009, 07:37 PM »
Alex and I spent the day at Bantam.  We set up on the north end of the lake, we had ten tip-ups rigged up for pike and a couple jigging poles for panfish.  We had high hopes of getting a pike when we set out today but ended up having very little flag action.

The jigging poles however had nonstop action from 10-2 catching some very aggressive perch. We were popping holes on top of schools of perch and hooking up with fish before we could find bottom.  One hole alone resulted in more than twenty perch :o!  The largest was 10" with most of the rest being right around 8".  It will be a fish fry with company on Friday.

Tomorrow, if the weather permits, we're going to try our luck at Winchester...I'm guessing that the ice should be good there now.   If anyone knows that it is not safe there yet please let me know.

Time to go sharpen the filleting knife... ;D
