It's easy enough to get hooked recore . Ice fishing is absolutely awesome especially as years go by and there is always something new to learn every year . The whole ice fishing community is like no other and pulling into a lake first thing in the am with nothing but people venturing out in the ice is a thrill like no other. Good luck bud

In general, In My Opinion, NO.  In some "spots" YES.  You will have more fun with the drive in the snow storm than you will fishing, though; I'll bet.  ;D

There is ice out there. I was at the bait store J and H in gouverneur and they were almost out of minnows already. There were lots of people  heading out on the ice.  It was bad last year at black lake for sure. Thats why they are so tight lipped this year.

I was saying the same thing last night at 10:30 when no snow had fallen - yet!  It's coming now - we prolly got about 8" and it's coming.  Hopefully it blows "out"  :o

Ummm. Its not right now we need to wait for the snow to stop. Then it will start forming good only thing is the bit that had ice now has snow insulation it could be a trick to get past it

There was alot of traffic last year for sure.  Black Lake was one of the only places with consitent ice throughout the season, although it came a little late, and left really early. :) I think alot of us are being silent currently because this snow is really effecting ice conditions, and we want everyone to be safe, and not get ahead of themselves.    Update for Black Lake : Snow is still coming down, and we have over 16" of snow.  Slushy ice conditions out front of us here.  We were told there was a good five inches of ice above Edwardsville measured before the Snow hit, and that is the most ice we have had reported.  People were also fishing MileArm and Rollway Bay.  These are the most inconsistent Ice Conditions we have seen in years.  If you head this way, and do not see anyone fishing, it is for a reason.  Even though we are having cold nights, snow insulates like a blanket, and cannot penetrate through to the ice.  Very iffy.  Will update as often as possible.  Stay safe everyone.
