Hi everyone! I was lucky to be there on Saturday. What a day - ice fishing can`t be better than that imho...friends, scenery, ice, weather and fish! Our numbers were way more modest but the fun was as great. I`m not very experienced with jigging for them lakers, used flasher for the first time and man, it makes difference. It was cool just to see how they rise to the lure and follow it for like 10 feet. Had many chasers, maybe 5-6 fish in 15 minutes at some time but it was crazy difficult to make them hit it. I definitely learned something new. Special thanks to Captain JJ, especially from kids, for all his care, knowledge and assistance! ;)I`ll try to post some pics later..Mike-glad you and your team did THIS well. Congratulations!
yes but the pressure ridge going out to the main lake is NNNNAAAAASSSSTTTTYYY
thanks for the tips man
I don't know a damn thing about the perch beds and I was able to get to 50' last weekend but not this weekend.. its a little sketchy but i can get out on to the ice i just need a fishing buddy for some added confidence.. I'm a newby so i need someone with me cuz walking on the ice freaks me out with open water surrounding me.
hope he will take me fishing one day
I have yet to learn the finess bite but one thing that has worked at least a dozen times last week, when I couldn't mark a fish for ten minutes I set my lute 5 feet off bottom to let it un wind, as I use no swivel. And 8 outa ten times a fish sneaks up from under it. I then drop the lure to the dirt and begin the chase. If he stops I start over in the dirt always. Do two little 6 inch pops then start reeling and jiggling away. Definitely not 100% effective but it's working. The biggest problem I feel most are having, goes along with what Jon said. You need to act like the bait they are eating. Or use your lure to its fullest potential. I fish pimples and buck shots similar, but yet different. Both baits I slam off the ground a few times, then rip it up 6 feet. ( a dying bait that struggles to get off bottom) then every now and then I real it up semi quick to the mid column, and free fall to the ground. ( just got its life back and dies again) so now if I get a looker remember your a dying bait that has just seen a laker. You gotta get out of their but your still dying. With a pimple I real and wiggle pole side to side, with a buckshot I use the rattle and reel, pop the pole up and down and reel. If they stop chasing at any time, I start over on bottom, they follow it down sometimes it lands in another ones mouth. Sorry for the rant, hope it helps.
