Lil' Cecil?
« on: Aug 25, 2018, 08:28 AM »
I’ve never used one, but have read good reports. I plan to purchase some for the coming season.

What is the weight of the lure? Favorite colors?

Also, do you prefer a feel or sight rod when fishing them? For example, I use a sight rod when fishing a slender spoon (the action of the spoon is not conducive to being in constant contact with the lure), but prefer a feel rod when using a Swedish pimple (constant contact with the lure).

Thanks,
Mark

Yeah you mean Little Cleo?  Just a heads up, if you have a Sportsmans Warehouse in your area go there and buy the Lill Lighting.  Same shape and only $1.89 . Brown trout works great on any trout.  Never tried them ice fishing only Open water.

I'm very familiar with the little Cleo (can't think of a freshwater species that I have NOT caught on a little Cleo).

Not sure who makes the Lil' Cecil, but CJ&S sell them:

I've got a few in my box but have never tried them.  My go to last winter was the vmc tungsten flies.

No idea on an actual number but they are super light. I own a few but usually fish heavier spoons cuz they fish easier

I use them....pretty popular around the Mississippi backwaters areas. They are light, you fish them for feel. They will catch monster bluegills, crappie and perch with no problems! I usually tip them with a minnow head or waxies.

They are excellent under a slip float on open water too
