I noticed that too.... guys seem more friendy on ice...  but according to this thread, 99% of us are on open water too.... so is it that we're a different breed, or is it just that you can walk right up to someone and not really be crowding them???  I think it's the latter.

  I fish both open and ice. Have 4 boats sitting out back can't seem to stop collecting. WM

I like both. I'm an outdoorsman who enjoys being, well, outdoors!
Summer winter spring & fall. Hiking, swimming, fishing, golf, camping,
Skating , Skiing, it's all good................

Ironic isn't it? You can walk up and talk to guys while on the ice, even fish next to them, or a couple of hundred guys in a bay, and everything is cool, but pull up next to some one in a boat, and they act like you are trying snoop in on classied info.
