eelpout festival
« on: Jan 10, 2013, 04:44 AM »
First time going to the festival next month and can wait. Anybody have any info on how i should prepare for it? What should i expect? Anybody sleep over in portable pop up ice houses? I'm bringing a 949I insulated eskimo wide bottom shelter with to sleep in. I hope there are others doing the same thing so i don't look too out of place. Anybody sleep in portable pop ups?

Anybody know how i can keep my porty even warmer at night? Thinking about maybe throwing a blanket over the top, than a tarp over that than anchored down to the ice.

Planning on using a mr buddy heater using the small green propane tanks. I will have a rubber matt or something as my floor inside. I just want to be prepared for over night since i have never slept in it. Matter of fact, i just bought it and haven't even used it yet so i don't know how cold it could be in there. Just wondering what others might do to rig up there portables if they know they will be staying the night.

Make sure you join the Team IceShanty team for the fishing tournament part. Free to join and you can use any fish in other events as well. We would like to get a team of 20 guys as that is the max. allowed per team. It will be my first year as well but we are staying at the casino. I don't think you'll have to worry about looking out of place at this event!

I've been going for a few years now. There's no need to worry about looking out of place. Your portable is gonna be real nice to sleep in compared to a guy last year who was passed out on the ice.

if you plan on catching fish, stay at least a 1/4 mile from the party zone (they tend to be a little bit loud)

I think the drunk girl was a fat chick. You still want that in your shack? Lol

No not unless my heater dies and I need to keep warm for the night.

Make sure your liver has been conditioned and is in perfect working order. Last time I was there I didn't fish much.  Quite a sight with all the hoopla going on. A lot of fun.
