No I haven't, I moved here about 2 months ago.  If you ever decide to come up this way, let me know and maybe we can drop a line.  Oh and you did spell it right!

I live up in Chetek on one of the feeder creeks of the chain here.

I head up and fish Amacoy / Fireside / Mud and a few other lakes in that area a couple times a year.... never had tons of success there... I know you said that you just moved to the area... but have you ever fished there on hard water?

Never.  I am looking forward to it though since the Chetek Chain has a lot of fish and big ones too.

We usually go over to the Chetek chain a couple times a year.  We go out on Prairie from the Veterans Memorial Park on the NW side of the lake.  Catch a lot of gills with average size.  Then off to Gilligans to watch the Badgers and a few cold ones

Last two years in Kenosha County a group of us has been out New Years Day.  Could probably go a week to ten days sooner but I don't like to be the first guy on the lakes.

I chance the ice a little (1.5" is normally pretty good) and I normally try to find small ponds that a low lying.

But looking at the forecast as of right now, looking after Thanksgiving.  :P

I am about 80 miles east of Chicago on the border of Michigan and Indiana. The pictures were taken in Indiana where I work.

I had some luck on Amacoy last year just before dark and a couple of hours after dark.

I was out on a bay on Lake Holcombe last year on Dec. 8. It was a bit scary with only 2-2-1/2" of ice with another two of frozen slush and snow. Hoping for better ice this year earlier!

2 years ago I was duck hunting in the morning and ice fished he evening on my canal on November 23 on an 1"1/2 of ice. Let's hope for the same this year! To be realistic though, hoping by early Dec.

Anytime after November 28th is fine with me.  I like to try to be out before Christmas, but I like 5"-6" of ice to walk on.  There's just something about a cold bath in the morning that just doesn't do it for me.

We normally fish Big Muskego (Northern areas) for Northerns and Bass, Bass Bay jiggin' for gills, and then we have been spending a lot of time on Tichigan jiggin' for gills.

I live in Marinette county, not that far from the U.P..  I was up there today grocery shopping.  Michigan's deer season is opening Monday the 15.

I don't think we will be on the ice anytime soon.  Temps at night are going down to the twenties, but highs will be around 40 for at least the next week.

As for me, I need at least a foot before I'm going out.  I wear braces on both legs, and have to travel at least by ATV (preferably my Jeep).  I'm hoping around Christmas.  If we get a lot of snow, then who knows.  A couple of years ago there was so much snow, the guys bunched in tight little groups a couple hundred yards from the landings. We had a melt and a refreeze later that year, but not much of a season left after that.
