March 24th..down south will be quick
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

Canobie always open up fast....maybe the fastest in NH?  Amazing how fast it goes.  Lakes Region will be still be icefishing for many more weeks after Canobie goes out...

Spot Pond in Stoneham, MA is wide open....as you move closer to the NH border ice is fading fast....so it won't be long for Canobie.

I was on 13-14" of ice up past Tilton this weekend.  Plenty of snow cover, too.  Guys with trucks on the ice + double-decker ice houses.  I don't see that going anywhere fast (but you won't see me driving my truck on the lakes).

whenever it goes...be careful....its crappy ice and only half the usual thickness. Wont take much to make it wonky ice... we been on two layers of ice all season or total mush at times. and we are at 1500' . will be moving the bobhouse...oh and the rotisserie, to the boat launch cove pretty darn soon... we'll still fish from there until...the end..my friends...yeeehaw... how about those monster lakers this season...impressive!

Wow, Cobbetts opened up? Yeah, it is very weird this year and caution is definitely key!

I haven't ventured far from my usual stomping grounds that I'm more aware of because of that.

Merk, I believe wonky is the right word. A lady I work with uses that word frequently. :) When she does, I realize that was the word I was looking for. I will definitely use it in a sentence tomorrow.

Canobie is 50/50. Will be close to 100% open by next weekend.

Cobbetts is 100% open as far as I could see.

It's coming up 93.

Plan on heading north if u want better ice.

We had about 20" today not far from the lakes region. A lot of sketchy spots out there, though.

::)      Southern city folks were the first to get on 3 " of ice after Thanksgiving??  Now you seem  anxious to end the season when north country still has 20 " of good ice.  Why is it that  Concord , Manchester ice fishermen seem to start too early and burn out when the best ,last ice, fishing is here?

I've always said, it's not how you start , it's how you finish...I'm way  south of them and I'm in no itching hurry to stop walking on water.

Am I the southern city folk?  I guess so.  I'm not "anxious to end the season" - just reporting what I see to save people a trip.

I was on 13-14" north of Tilton last weekend (didn't fish this w/e).  I'm sure Lakes Region will have fishable ice for a while.

Tight lines.
