« on: Jan 20, 2016, 12:01 PM »
In velva 2 weeks ago my minnows were average sized. This weekend I bouht some minnows at Sinclair in Minot. The minnows were all about 1.5 to 2 inches. Jumbo minnows anyone else have this happen lately?

It just comes down to who there supplier is and what slough he traps his minnows in. The good venders know where to get good minnows from and will have them classed by size during the winter. Tends to suck if your going for perch and half your minnows are bigger then the fish.

That is exactly what happened on one lake it was fine I pinched the heads off and caught perch and it was good... The lake I went to the next day however all the fish would bite was deadstick minnows and all I caught were large perch... Both were new lakes for me but I was quite surprised by the 2nd lake only producing on whole minnows... I always nail fish on minnow heads... Maybe due to the fish being bigger in this lake they did not want to mess around with the smaller baits?
