got till march 31st to fish and still have around 40 inches of ice going out every chance i get might ride the sleds after school this week and fish for an hour or so then head home

And we are going to have even few days!!  Another 15 cm of snow...and the lake is impossible to get on right now .  We'll have to wait a bit until some track is set!!

OK...It's March 5 Today...Ummmm...I check the ice on Saturday, and it's 12" thick..Now, our Weather Man says that MORE cold weather is coming down from the Norf and it's going to get C-C-C-Cold...He said..." Put on a Extra Blanket tonight"..

I'm not really worried for now.

Emptyhook, he ordered some from Cabela's...but thank you!!  I just hope we can get out on the lake...I think we might pull our fishing
sled out with skis or snowshoes if we have to!!

Lil Ol Lady -  You guys are spoiled up north with the drive-in fishing   Here in Central NY, it's sleds & wheelers, or skis and snowshoes, or good ol' trudging along to get to the ol' honey holes.......And by the time we start complaining about it, the ice is on the way out............

LOL...yes we are spoiled, and we still have over 30" of ice...this year we have had much more snow than usual, thanks to El Nino...and we are
so used to driving on good ice to where ever we want to fish.  Unfortunately, and as a scientific guy you know the implications of early ice and lots of snow,
some of our favourite lakes have winterkilled.  Our favourite rainbow lake is da nada for the next year or so, until it can be re-stocked.  And the bays that
we fish for pike and perch on Cold Lake are inaccessible to vehicles.  I don't mind snowshoeing or skiing in with our fishing sled of a good day, and we
are planning some outings as soon as the snow stops falling!!  I hope you had a good winter, though!!

same here, the cold isn't letting up here, about 5 below with 30-50 mph winds this last week and 70 mph gusts,  the wind has kept me off the lakes lately.  As for days...well months, about two solid ones of the warmest icefishing in the year

I'm just getting started here!  Ice should be good til the end of the season which is march 31.  We still have a good 2 feet+ although they are calling for heavy rain this weekend.  Seems crazy to have rain as it is -35 degrees celcius here today with the windchill.  Good day to kick up the feet and enjoy a couple "pops".
