Which Aqua Vu?
« on: Jan 29, 2004, 10:50 AM »
I looking into getting a Aqua Vu for ice fishing and for fishing on the boat in the summer. Which model would be best for me?  ???
We mainly anchor and perch fish in Lake Erie in the summer, but do a little trolling for walleye and steelhead.

Thanks,
Dan

I would recommend buying one without a light ...i have one with a light and it never gets used cause it picks up all the particles with it on.....also if your trolling make shure it comes with a stablizer fin..i would also recommend that you buy a monitor magnifier...its much nicer when your fishing with 2 people in a shanty....good luck...

I just got a Marcum VS500 and I LOVE it!. I like the picture quality much better then the Aqua-VU. The screen is larger (5.5" tube display),nice compact unit w/ built in sun shroud, battery meter, camera direction meter, and it has UV lights, Multi Color lights and the option for no lights all in one. Mine also has the motorized arm which truns the camera. I was not too sure about this option when I ordered it, but it works great. Much better then trying to adjust by hand. I plan on getting some footage for my websites as time rolls on.

I would recommend the SV series for two reasons. One you can turn off the light when you don't need it and when you do it has the multicolored lights which is supposed to penetrate the water better with less reflection back. The main reason I recommend it is the camera direction sensor - it's invaluable to know which way you are looking. It also comes with a temp sensor but I don't feel it's a necessity. JMO
