Hey this thread looks fun ! I am a newbe here on this forum, but am way serious about catching lakers here in NW Wyoming!

Would the over 100 I have iced so far this year in 6 days on the ice help the Wyoming team any?
No big ones so far this year but I got to help a friend land this one last year

Randy Merit Caught this one in 30' of water. It weighs 30# and was 38" long. No one had a gaff so I reached down into the water to snag it's jaw so I could haul it up through the 20" of ice to the surface! Just as I started my hand into the water it opened it's mouth filling the 10" hole! Now that is a sight I will not forget!
I had hoped that he would release it but he did not.

i am a proponent of catch & release, but i don't blame randy for wanting to put that one on the wall (hopefully he didn't eat it  ::) ), 'cause i'll probably do the same thing if i catch something like that.

welcome!

You guys have some nice lakers down there. Geez maybe we will lose first place in the laker category this year...... not    For 4 years BC has held this title (1st). You guys were so close last year. Look forward to some friendly competition. LT you up for a friendly wager......losing mod has to get a crew cut and post pics on board :o (I hope your not bald Don ;D)

TGF In the excitement of the moment, the prospect of you losing your hair and all, I neglected to mention Bull Lake, on the Wind River Indian Reservation? Home to some of the largest, fattest, most aggressive lakers in the state...20 miles from my home...hmmmm...I didn't mention that? Whoops. Did I also not mention that I had just ponied up the cash for my Res Tag? whoops. Well, ole buddy, I don't recall that full disclosure was a part of the wager, we just put our hair on the block. I now sit patiently at my computer screen awaiting your response which I'm certain will begin with the words, "Oh yeah, well I never told you about Lake such-and-such either, so there!" Laters, my fellow Mod-in-arms ...yeah, you might want to keep your eye on me... LT/Iceshanty Mod-pot-stirrer  :callcops: :woot:   :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:   Don

In the state of Wyoming they may be the Fattest and largest......but I fish in BC where the fish are longer  ;). Check out my 40 incher on previous tourneys under bragging shack.....that one was only a little over 21 lbs :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Considering the size of British Columbia, and the fact that their population is almost 10 times as great as Wyoming, they should be embarrassed that it is even close!!

Actually Dorado 1/2 of BC (Southern part) has no ice. Thats why we call it lotus land.....95% of population in BC lives in lotus land.
3/4 of the ice half have only a couple roads thru it. Some roads (that are not plowed in winter) are 250 miles apart. When travelling north from my place in some places you will see signs saying check fuel, next service 595 kilometers (369 miles). And if you go further north the communities (many with less than 40 people) get further apart so you will see vehicles carrying extra jerry cans of gas on roof.

BC is not embarrassed that its even close. We are glad you guys are starting to register some lakers that we can compete against. I knew you guys had it in ya  ;)2.......

Our laker action starts to heat up in mid March but unfortunately the tourney is over then......and probably my hair ;D

No big deal....heck even here in Canada people think it is always raining in BC in winter, we get no ice and we are overpopulated ;D
