Does anyone eat pikerel, besides the crow? If so how do you prepare them? I tried them once a long time ago. The meat was sweet, but THE BONES. :P

I have and you're right they are sweet but a pain.  I've read there's some recipes that result in the bones becoming dissolved but I've never tried them out.  I bet if you put that on one of the main boards someone will come through with an answer for that one

  One of my friends goes out west somewhere and spears carp in the spring. He says they scale and cut into the sides of the fish then submerge in hot oil and this dissolves the bones. He says they are really good this way. I never ate carp, don't sound good, and look even uglier. Maybe this would work for pikerel. I do not scale fish, too messy.
