Adding a new rod and reel combo (D&H longboard noodle and probably a sahara) Obviously more jigs/spoons/baits.  Going to mod the frabill a tad with some LEDs and maybe a powerbox.  Oh and I'm building a smitty sled :)

Had a few Cabelas points laying around and I thought I'd use them before the merger w/Bass Pro so I ordered an Eagle Claw in line reel.  I use my fathers fly fishing reel when fishing Lk St. Clair thats almost 100 years old so I thought I should retire it and use the Eagle Claw before I drop the thing down the hole.  I really got ambitious yesterday and studded the snowmobile track.  I can understand now why the dealers charge what they do for doing that.  What a time consuming job that is.

I added a bull whip to my arsenal this year. I usually only add one purchase of 100 or more per season but I am going to get a k drill next week as well.

The wife said we are getting a wheel house next year. SCORE!

Ice blue pro ultra lite rod and a lowrance elite 5x hdI might take elite 5 back..  Will see cause I got to buy the maps for it.. maps I have looked at are around $200 for the mapping soft ware.. when I paid 86.18 for the unit.. that and got to buy a ice cable for it or a adaptor for the old cables I got .. thinking about it thinking I should have bought a vex.. since I already have a gps.. hand held.. but will see..

You are going to love the 11 lb tank Steve.  It saves so much room and weight.
I am hoping to add my little boy with me more this year.  Well that’s his choice, but would be nice.

Totally confirmed.  That 11 lb tank was a great add for the '16 and '17 seasons and is a permanent item on the gear list.  I had figured it as a good tank for the Big Buddy, as I have used a 5 lb with my Portable Buddy for years, and I see the Big Buddy as roughly equivalent to two Portable Buddies.

The other adds from 2016 also worked out well (mostly).  The Jet Sled XLs with Shappell HD hitches and covers are thumbs up, and the lx-6s is also.

The resurrected snowmobile didn't stay alive and was eventually replaced.  The old one has a new home on a farm where it pulls grandkids, I think.

I am hoping to add my little boy with me more this year.  Well that’s his choice, but would be nice.

The best addition of all.  Our kids all did it from age 5.  Terrific family activity.

Added :

3- rods
1-reel
1-tip-up
1-cordless drill and 4" auger
A few equipment mods

In process:

Smitty Sled (should be completed by Christmas...waiting on Santa  ;))

Subtracted:

About 4 dozen jigs that I never used...and never would.

Total:

I now have EVERYTHING I will ever need to finish out my fishing life. That was my goal back in July when I decided to cull "stuff" I never used and am going lighter because I did. I have had it with (and getting too old) to drag all of the un- necessaries out there, hence, the Smitty Sled. And when I go out this season, I'm either going to kick back and run tip ups or go  pannie fishing (usually hole hopping style). Not going to do both...I am good to go.

7 or 8" Nero with drill setup
Ideally Livescope, but might settle for panoptix
I settled for the panoptix back in sept (last years model so no touch screen), it’s been an amazing tool for open water alone, can’t wait to use it under the ice. The livescope would be amazing, but since there’s no ice package, and it would almost require a larger screen to see clearly, it’s just too much more cost and work to do the diy (besides the extra weight). With the panoptix you won’t see structures in fine detail, but if you know how to read a sonar screen it’s not hard to figure out. Seeing there’s structure/weeds there is good enough to fish it... not saying it wouldn’t be nice to see the fine details and the fish that are in the weeds like live scope does.
Besides that, I’ve already added two new rod and reels geared towards lake trout, along with some large jig-heads/swimbait heads. Still trying to decide on a line to spool up the second reel with for when it’s too cold to fish with fireline. Other than that I may get another HT ice rigger.

Oh, I just remembered that I also might be getting a 8” mora for my clam plate setup. Upsizing from a 7” lazer mostly due to targeting lake trout and pike.  think it’ll make a difference?
