Depends on who's going.  Some of you were out there the day of the Ice Out party.  First day I was out there last year was Jan 3rd.  I'm saying a week or two earlier.  Probably when you're up in NY for Xmas, Chep. lol

That was myself and comeonnow...   can't  remember if we started just before or just after thanksgiving last year.  All I know is that we didn't need an auger, and the ring and throw rope was a must.  I think the ice was around 2-3 inches, at most.  I got new gear that's boyant this year, so and inch will do!

Hi steve :)

Howdy Jake...  your right, it was before thanksgiving because I was on vacation for thanksgiving and kept checking shanty for updates while in sunny California, wishing I was home ice fishing.

Yes...  should be in by the end of the week.  Pretty impressed with the stuff.  Wife bought it for me for my birthday...  I guess she wants to keep me around.   ???

Yea, I was looking at it too.  My 280+ lbs make the risk that much greater.  My problem is spending the cash then trashing it.   I want to make sure it's durable enough for the abuse I know I'll put it through (hooks, spilled coffee, etc).

Couple of middle 30's for lows in Northern RI later this week.  It's getting there.

The Arctic Armor?

Got the arctic armor in yesterday.  I'm pretty impressed.  I put on my underarmor and then the suit and immediately started sweating.  Next I need to try the buoyancy.  Tons of padding on the knees and rear end.  Seems like pretty durable stuff.  Hopefully I get to put it into action soon.

I got an Arctic armour late last year good sturdy suit Peter I believe you will be seeing a lot of the stuff soon only been around a couple years now but you got to ask whats your life worth and if we are honest with one another how many times you spent more than the cost of a ice suit on weekend you cant remember

I received the arctic armor this year as a gift and can't wait to try it out.  My only concern is that it's going to be too warm.  Do you find that to be a problem seeing we don't fish in temps like in the Minnesota/Canada area where this gear is often used?  I guess being too warm is better than being cold.

Snow, slushy roads on Nov 8th.  Good signs.
