Wheres sandy pond?

About 8-10 miles northwest of Pulaski.  Just follow the eastern shoreline of Lake Ontario.  There is only 150 yards of beach that separates Sandy Pond from lake Ontario.

You should live up here near in the North Country.  There are several ice derbies every weekend up here.  Especially along the St. Lawrence River.

Schroon Lake Derby. Usually held in March this one is fun. It's a two day event I've been fishing for years, and I have always done well on fish, and surprisingly enough, prizes. I usually set up my portable shanty and stay in that, set up with a heater and all the goodies.
Contact the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club. There's food and drink at the clubhouse, usually plenty of bait, and the 'Officials' come by on snowmobiles to collect and tag your entries for you.
All folks follow Chainsaws first law of diminishing enthusiasm, "Ya just hafta want to do some things more than others."

Not sure about Lake of Isles but a co-worker told me yesterday that they did well catching perch at Eel Bay a few days ago.  They told me "We caught enough perch for a good meal for the both of us then quit.  We could have caught a lot more and the perch were big."

Hope this helps

Thanks Ranger I am heading that way this weekend. I have callled the 1000 island bait store 3 times and get the cold shoulder when I ask about ice conditions. Last itme the guy's say's " I only see the guys when they are buying the bait , not on there way home" ! I actually think they don't want to say one way or the other ,as to awoid a lawsuit!

yeah there will be derbies but you are going to need a boat not a shanty.

Most of the local fire depts here in the Indian River Lakes / St. Lawrence River area have derbies.  I believe the Alexandria Bay derby is the last week-end in January.  Redwood has one the first week-end in Feb.  Theresa is the 2nd week-end in Feb.  Clayton and Plessis will be in there sometime as well.  All open boundaries.  They are typically a lottery system.  Enter 1 pike over 24" and they draw for the winner.  I know Theresa's derby is $700 top prize.  Too many people were cheating and fishing all week long and entering their big fish.  This is why they had to go to lottery style.

Wayne...go to tibait.com and click on the ice fishing report...scroll down and it'll give you the entire listing of all derbies going on up here, the only one I know about that isn't advertised there is the Lyme derby, Jan 28th and 29th.....the website will give ice conditions, where the "bite" is and derbies, etc...hope that helps.....

THERE IS A DERBY ON CHATEAUGAY LAKE IN CLINTON COUNTY ON THE 28TH OF JAN.  IT IS SPONSORED BY A LITTLE BAR & RES. CALLED THE OWLYOUT.  IT IS A $25 ENTRY FEE AND THEY GIVE AWAY $200 TO THE LARGEST FISH EACH HOUR. IF YOU LIKE TO FISH FOR PIKE THIS IS A GREAT DERBY.

Feb. 4th and 5th is the Mad river club derby on Sandy Pond. I believe it is 5 bucks to enter. there is a kids division for pike and perch and an adult pike division. Check out www.tibait.com they have all the derbys under the fishing report.
