Red south of City?
« on: Dec 11, 2008, 02:15 PM »
Anybody have any opinions on the ice on the Red south of the City...I am not sure how the river behaves in this part and was wondering if anybody had more experience in St. Norbert.  I know the fishing isn't what you get in the Sugar Island area but it is hard to resist when a guy can walk out after work for a couple of hours.  Any discussion would be helpful.

Cheers

I have fished at the Park where the LaSalle  meets the Red and have caught a few walleye. The water is not too deep. I have found the fishing is better across the river closer to  the east side.

Further south closer to the flood gates is not very good, there is a lot of sand that get stirred up , freezes in the ice and will ruin your blades very quickly
