Where do you put your tip ups?
« on: Jan 07, 2009, 01:32 PM »
Do you randomly scatter them around?  Semi-circle?  What do you guys do?  I usually do a semi-circle with 5 of them then take the other 5 and put them in a straight line.

I'll put mine in a line, or some sort of semi-circle/arch depending on if I'm trying to work a point, drop-off, or any structure. My son is almost 10 and has his own full set of everything now, so we'll be able to run a bigger set. The joys of fatherhood.

I zig zag along the brake lines 23 feet to 34 feet in about ten yards we can get a four foot difference in the shack.

Depends, if im fishing a small cove ill spread them out in an arc starting from the outside of the cove going in and then coming back out, if another person is with me, throw a few in the middle and a couple outside. Another spot i fish is a channel connecting 2 lakes, i usually speard them in a straight line from shallow on one side across deep water to shallow on the other. In the middle of the lake i jsut throw em out randomly whereever i start getting fish i move the others towards
Theres only 3 seasons..open water, hunting and icefishing!

I usually set them in a straight line, down the break line, all at the same depth.

If I am fishing with anyone else,  we usually set them up in a arch in front of the shack.

I start by finding the depth that the fish are at, and then move my tip ups across the breakline at that depth.

Hope this helps,

Wiener

I tend to fish near the shore, and I put them in a line perpendicular to the shore. Each at diff depths if I can. If one flag trips more often that the others, it gives you a clue where the fish are.
