NOBODY wants to deal with freekin' I-70 traffic on the holidays!

Tired of bows, said I was gonna get some perch and thats just what we did.

Hooked up with Nate, SD Flagchaser, Ronco, Moosemilk and Randy for some fun in the sun. Funky ice, the hated slush, and methane pockets made for some great conversations. Man I prefer ice fishing when it's not icy.

OOPS- Forgot Shoe and Regan!

Got a bonus Brown that's still swimming happily-

Nice perch. How thick was the ice? Looks slightly less crowded than the mile.

It was great fishing with you guys today, Mike! Just got done filleting mine, should make for a great meal during the Broncos game! And good to meet Ron and others. Looking forward to another trip soon.

It was good fishing and meeting you guys. Nate and Mike, I can do it again after I get back from Texas. I did my perch like the video" 10 second perch". I wasn't doing a very good job filleting.

Very nice guys!! I love it when ice is like that! I watched the ten second perch video on youtube, and was amazed at how easy it is! I've never caught perch to eat, so I'm going to try that next time. How bony are perch? Are they like trout with all the super thin bones?

We were the only people there.

3-5" and funky slush you'd break thru and scare the willys out a ya.

Like bass and crappie, only rib bones to worry about.

Glad you cracked 9in. I should of moved around more on Friday. Walking out, I talked to a guy that lives there. He said the DOW put a bunch of perch in there, after they drew it down, says they want to manage it as a premier perch lake

Says there are some big Browns in there if you can find them

How was the walk in? I'm still a little sore from Friday, packed too much in

Mine were mostly 8-9. Hans got the biggest ones- he didnt move around that much!

Boy, am I glad I wasn't there! Imagine having to lug a bucket of nice perch back to the truck, then having to clean and fillet them when you got home. What a mess. Then having to coat the fillets with flour and gently Sautee them in butter. Imagine the cholesterol. I'd say we all had a lucky escape.

Big browns indeed - see Slayer's pictured above. After Ron drilled a new hole, Mike got the brown. So technically, Ron "found" that fish...

The big fish seemed to follow Mike wherever he went.

Way to go guys - it looks like you have that place dialed in again this year. And some bonus suckers and a brown. Nice!

I also did the 10 second video fillet trick this summer on a pile of perch. Took about 4-5 fish to get it down but I finally got it down to around 30 seconds. Fun way to do it.

It was a beautiful day. I thought we might get some bigger perch out a little deeper, but no. Same 8-9 inchers and we had to weed through quite a few 7 inchers. One 19.5" skinny bow. Regan and I had fun with the non-stop action. Nice to see you guys. He was wishing for drive up perch by the end of the hike out. I was a little sore next day and after filleting 20...dang it is heck to get old......... In Texas this week and next...and they are telling me there is no ice here...WHAT?!?!
