I've been there quite a bit this year... To me, the fish just seem extremely selective you can see them, but they just are not interested in anything offered to them. Most people I have talked to while fishing there claim long hours with nothing but a lighter bait bucket to show for it.
Let us know how you do.

On the trap with a run and spit, trying putting a dill nightcrawler on right after.  I've done this a couple of times with good hook-ups.  Not sure why, but they seemed to not want to let go of the crawler.  One was a the lake your fishing.   ;D

Does anyone know for sure whether this derby is closed to the public? I saw this short notice on the Pointer Fish and Game Club website
"Ice Fishing Derby on Feb 17th!" You can sign up for the derby at Plesant Lake in Deerfield, NH. Adults $5/Children $3
It doesn't say that the derby is for club members only. You wouldn't think they'd raise very much money if it was only $5 and they were only allowing club members.

Yeah. Found and email on their website. Going to try that first, and then give the number a call if I don't hear anything. I'll try to remember to post what I find.  :)

They list crappie as a species on the derby page. I wasn't aware they were in there. Anyone?

But that does not mean others can't fish there while the derby is going on. You just can't win any of their prizes. Just catching fish is good enough for me (If they finally decide to bite.....

Exactly. You can absolutely fish there, just not eligible for prizes. In fact, the guy I asked said to stop by and say hello.
