You must have huge hands if that's one of the bucktails you tied.

I'd love to see a smaller keeper size there. This little ones belly was stuffed full of food. Every hole I drill I mark fish. From 30-80 fow. I pulled that up from 83 feet. It's getting over run with smalls. Over the last two seasons the avg size has gotten smaller and smaller. They are clearly reproducing. There is no shortage of lakers there.

I think the hard part also is convincing people to keep and eat the smaller fish. I've met a few folks on newfound that typically don't keep 15-18 inch fish but will keep fish over 18. Don't get me wrong I can understand wanting a bit more meat for your efforts but, for me, there's few trout (aside from native brookies but I always feel bad keeping them) that eat better in my opinion than a 15" newfy laker. That said, any little bit helps. I can think of a few lakes that seem to have similar population structure as newfound and could probably benefit from a similar management style.
Perhaps I should not have been a fisherman, he thought. But that was the thing that I was born for.

Awww, so cute! I probably still have the world's record for smallest pike, though. You need to step up your game.

Tuna, I agree with you on two points. My summer pastime is hitting small brooks with a jig rod for them, but I never keep them. One of my friends keeps telling me to keep them, but like you, I feel bad.

I have kept 16" lakers from Newfound, because that's plenty for a meal for me. I'm not a big fan of leftover fish.
Thinkin 'bout cusk on the grill......
