End of year roundup video
« on: Dec 31, 2015, 11:34 AM »
Hey guys,

Hard to believe it's the end of the year, especially with this wicked warm weather! Good news is the weather pattern is looking much colder through the next month at least, so hopefully we'll get some safe ice soon - maybe even in time for opening weekend of trout season on some lakes and ponds.

Anyways, every year I do an end of the year roundup video of my various outings. This year I had a lot of footage to work with, so the video is pretty lengthy! Wanted to share it with you.

Happy New Year!

Well done on the video as well as the fishing success! I enjoyed watching it. Did you catch those lakers jigging with swimbaits like you do through the ice? Suspended or near bottom? Very nice.

Thanks! Definitely took a long time to edit together.

Yep, the same swimbait method I use in the winter seems to work in the summer too! We jig near bottom with them. The huge brown trout in there was also caught on a swimbait, but about halfway up the water column.

Very well done! It's awesome to see schools of huge fish lining up to spawn that weren't filmed in Alaska. Besides all the fish porn I really liked your Google street view image stitching, that's a cool idea.

Thanks guys! Glad you liked it! Took a lot of time to get some of those shots, but mostly it was just being in the right place at the right time. That, and having a gopro on hand that I could duct tape to a long stick.  :)

Great Video and a lot of beautiful fish! Especially that Champlain Brown, what a monster.
Where were you fishing when you guys were catching all the Bowfin? Looks like a great spot to throw a topwater frog for Bass.
Keep up the good work.
Perch bait- a small minnow that can have big results in the ice fishing game.  :icefish:

Man that's outstanding!  Incredible shots.  I agree, it's inspiring to see the salmon.
I really like the variety of music, and the way it developed.  Most fishing videos seem to start right up with the EXTREME music ;)

Yeah we were really surprised to get that big brown while jigging for lakers. Awesome fish. Bowfin came out of Little Otter Creek. Definitely a lot of bass in there. Had some big largemouths slam jitterbugs and frog patterns there this summer! Fun spot.

This makes me want to buy a new GoPro and then give you all my footage  ;D  I remember the last day I went out for fins, I took my brother and about an hour before dark I noticed commotion in an open patch of weeds after an OK afternoon of catching bowfin.  Push-poled into the middle of it and it was like we were in a horror movie.  20+ sets of beady, soul-eating black eyes staring right at me in the water.  Waiting to snap at anything that moved....  All bowfin, all big....I don't even know how many we caught in an hour, all I know is that I'm going to bring two nets next year.

Sounds pretty cool Matt... I would say bowfin are definitely under appreciated as a sports fish.

Awesome video Chris,  I watched this one and then all your others on YouTube and then some. You do a great job. Kind of cool watching and realizing "hey I  know that road, and lake". Good to see you spend time fishing the Kingdom, some great fishing over here. I swear  the closing scene/pic is on the road right behind my camp. Tight lines
