Good Canyon Ferry bite
« on: Mar 03, 2014, 04:07 PM »
Real good action jigging for walleye on Canyon Ferry. Very aggressive bite during full moon but between the cold and warm temperatures lately....geeez!

Lot of fish. Nothing big but many between 14"-18", Mostly spoons a few on Nils

Ice was getting real bad along shore as of 2/24 but I have not been back since this last big snow dump then deep freeze...

I'm wondering if I got another weekend left or not? Has anyone been out?

Are you fishing at night for walleye or are you just fishing in the mornings and evenings?

Good thick ice just off the boat ramp at the silos on Saturday. There was a big drift there also. Got stuck in it spent 2 hrs digging myself out and called it a day.

Must be a lot of slush under all that snow? Just saw forecast looks like the snow will be retreating

I was out today trying to find the perch.  Drove on the ice, (22+, lots of drifts) but didn't find any biting perch. Per the flasher they would come up to the jig, look, and go back down.  I tried red, blue, orange, chartreause, black, pink, white, glow,   tipped with both maggots, worms, powerbait, and smellyjelly.

All lookie no touchie. Water was a bit murky.

The drifts are hard and deep, need to have 4wd and some momentum up to get through some of them.

That was the third skunk in a row Canyon ferry has handed to me.  Sigh.

Three skunks in a row.... It's out!  :)  time to hit golfer and catch a bunch of little ones huh?  Not the best, but at least you'll be catching something...

I was out today north of silos. Ice is still hard and solid with no slush on top. Pretty tough going on the 4 wheeler. Lots of drifted snow. You gotta keep the wheeler rolling pretty fast and hope your gear donsnt bounce off. I got stuck twice and had to shovel my way out>:( glad I wasn't trying to pull a sled. I did get into a mess of jumbos though. Hoping it wasn't a tease and they are going to start cooperating again.

Hope the edges of the ice hold out for this weekend. Starting to get cabin fever. The weather looks WARM all week so the snow has to go somewhere. Could be a sloppy but warm weekend. Be careful out there if your not walking across the ice!

The Snow melted some and firmed up today making the wheeling and driving autos much easier. Easy but bumpy traveling from the silos side and some good fishing. Hope the ice and bite lasts awhile.

38 fow but they sure weren't biting there today. Didn't mark many and the ones I did mark didn't seem hungry.
