Lake Audy for monster jacks?
« on: Jan 19, 2012, 08:16 PM »
Thinking of heading to Lake Audy this weekend to try and catch some big jack fish.  Where abouts should I go on the lake?  I am thinking of spending a day there and a day at Clear Lake.
What are people using to catch theses monsters?

I've heard that Lake Audy has the  Manitoba record musky in May, 1985 at Lake Audy, Manitoba (50 inches, 21 inch girth, 30 lbs).

I'm just curious to know where you've heard of all these "monsters" ??? Since 1992 there have been a total of 18 MA pike registered from Audy, the largest being 44"... there's a lot better water around for both size & numbers, IMO ;).

Not sure how one would target big pike  in L Audy without using big fish type bait on a tipup or at least large jigs or spoons with cut bait  - ie  ciscoes , smelts , portuguese sardines etc . Unfortunately none of these are legal bait in L Audy.

See cut and paste from RMNP regs  below .

Bait – Nightcrawlers, earthworms and leeches may be used as bait no fish eggs, no live or dead fish (including minnows) are permitted.
