No sleep lake
« on: Jan 19, 2013, 11:12 PM »
Ever have one of those nites you wake up from dreaming about catching big fish?  Well this was me- wide awake, very early in the morning and cannot sleep...

Soo a 2 am phone call to dukes to try to gain his interest about this new lake ive been wanting to explore...
Got the typical "its  @#$%^#$%  2am" speal, but he knew i was serious and with a lil convincing it was on! I picked him up and started our long drive...

Unsure what to think of this new lake we had high hopes.

Sure enuf we dialed into the fish.  after fish..   after fish...

With many spots on the lake and many new lures getting a workout the day was a success.

When i downloaded my camera i had a wopping 66 pictures, hehe, musta been a good day. heres just a few random pix:

The sizes ranged thru the day, many were smaller then we were hoping there but with help from the fish gods we managed a few bigger ones. It seemed the deeper we went the bigger the fish were.

It took me over an hour to eat a thin peanut butter sandwich cuz of the hot action,  but with big smiles and leaving my lure on top of the ice i was able to get the ol blood sugar back up and quickly resumed the rod bending...

Double header on- both feeling big-   whammy:

And another double header- unbelievable  ---with dukes taking longer to get his up the hole i quickly release mine (lil 24"er) and we managed to get his monster on top of the ice, this is what it looked like:

With well over a dozen lakers caught its almost unheard of...

No sleep lake was worth many high fives and fist pounds thru the day.

Heres a fresh black airplane jig from northern hardware that produced a beautiful black chromie:

Heres one for Terry:

With the smell of 2 stroke exhaust lingering, cut/bleeding fingers, enuf high fives to make a weak mans hand sore, and the smell of fish deeply embedded into the skin on my hands the day came to an end..

Although big ol dirty bertha never showed her face and thoughts of possibly one of the many we lost being her, i still feel soo lucky to be able to get out and fish quality lakes and put a lil water on the burning passion of catching 10+ pounders alll day long.

It was kinda like a dream come true!!

Pretty sweet fishing! If I wake up early tonight because this subliminal mind trick now, I'm going to be pissed cause I gotta work tomorrow... no fishies for me  :P
There's always a bigger fish... and I'm going to get it!

You might as well spill the beans on where 'hoot' is if you don't fish there anymore ::)
