i can see how that might work but it looks complicated and how much wind does it take to get that thing to jig with out blowing it over

The windlass's are great tip ups when used properly. I don't use mine when its really cold but warm days they are deadly for pike!

Awesome!   ;D  I have used the jiging buddy tip-up and the windless. I can honestly say the the jiging buddy is simpler to use. The windless has spring adjustments and the jigging buddy you just set out. The wind vane just flaps back and forth like a sign hanging on a chain in front of a store. If a strong wind does blow the vane stays pointed in one direction stopping the jigging until the strong wind stops. Over all I can say I am happy with mine especially with the quality and made in USA
