I am most defiantly not on ice. I have heard no report on any conditions so far. South Dakota site is slow. Everyone needs to spread the work that there is a site out there for all of us ice addicts called ice shanty. An active site is a lot more fun and more useful. There has to be more than 20 of us that are addicted to ice fishing in south dakota lol.

I wish we wouldn't get any of this snow they are talking about. Bad timing for ice making...

Last I heard it was only supposed to be a few inches, with some rain before hand, and high winds through out.  Has it changed?

I had heard 6. just checked and they say 3-7" in Spearfish, 2-4" in Rapid, and 1-3" in Custer. Hopefully not too much of it is rain!

snowing right now in lead, but raining in deadwood. I'd say 7 inches up here after all is said and done.
i'm gunning for Saturday. i'll follow flagchaser onto the ice. i'd say we'll find some safe ice.

what snow are you talking about.  It's pouring rain in Spearfish and Deadwood.  I heard 6 inches in Spearfish.  The one good thing is that it will probably freeze pretty quick tonight, so it shouldn't do much to the ice.

I think i am going to try it this weekend. My dad has been driving by it daily and said where the creek comes in has been hard for a couple weeks he has not checked ice but thinks it would been fishable.

I know the weather has been a little warmer this year than last, but I was on stockade three times before December 5 last year.  Like Fillet said, should be good to go.  Have heard Bismark is good to go too.  If you don't mind wormy perch, the fishing is good

Went by Stockade this afternoon the bays looked OK but he main body still looked slushy so I didn't try. Went across the road to Bismark and caught a bunch of perch for dinner. No size but a great couple of hours and a great dinner.

I'm going to try and make it to Sheridan lake this weekend. Has anyone drove by to check the ice?? Might try deerfield if the ice is too thin on sheridan.

Made it on stockade today with 4in of ice in the bays i checked.   Ended up with my limit of perch  none smaller then 7in but none bigger then 9 1/2 caught maybe 25 on the day.  No pike where caught today which was a disapointment to me!

I went for a scouting trip today hitting 4 different lakes. I didn't have any live bait but had faith in my plastics. Horsethief had 2.5 to 3 inches on the south side, couldn't get on from the highway.  Palmer Gulch Walk-in dam had 6" of ice. One gentleman on stockade, must have been you jgouldin! Weak ice around the shore by the boat ramp but a solid 4" by the dam. I hit Bismark just after sunset and didn't have my scoop with but estimate that the ice was around 5".

Here is my first fish of the season!!

I caught fish at every lake so get out there and let the lip rippin begin!
