About 1/3 skinned over this morning    This was a really small pond. The bigger ones I looked at had maybe 10% covered.

It'll probably be gone by the weekend, though, there is a warmup coming.

I just drove past a lake on the way home and it’s trying but that’s about it.

Forecast I looked at shows a real cold snap beginning around the 1st of Jan. Hopefully we can be on by the 10th.

If the extended forecast holds true, we might have some smaller local ponds locked up good enough for fishing by the 2nd or 3rd around here. Gonna be in that overnight skim/daytime thaw pattern from now up until the 30th. May not skin a couple days early next week, though with highs in the mid 40s. After that it looks pretty good for weather around here.

The puddles lock up fast once they have a solid skin across them. I've seen a few of them I fish pick up 2-3" in a day when we get down around 0 at night.
