Who in Michigan Stabs there pike?

Simple question, I have no agenda. Just wondered how many of you guys or gals spear pike during the allotted times and places the dnr allows? Also, do you spear out of a permanent shanty, or a portable?

Myself, I spear pike out of a portable shelter, I also set tip ups while spearing. I am looking at upgrading my portable shack this year. My old clam shack just literally fell apart at the end of the season. I am also drawing up blue prints for a permanent shack with some help from my super yooper friends.

Hey Capt. Good to see you are still alive too. I posted in the lower michigan thread on purpose. I just want to see if it is gaining popularity, or just something not many people do. Also, maybe there are a few guys I could get some breakfast with, and perhaps tell a few fish stories about some water wolves.

I bought a shappell wide house 6500 last year for this.but cant afford  the spear/ice saw and tongs.i use tip ups for them all the time though.i don't like cleaning a lot of those snot rockets and release quite a few anyway.

I spear and like to knab pannies while waiting and wait on tip ups.... I also use a portable, I like the POP UP TENT styles.... Give you the most room

I love to go after pike with a spear. Often I don't set tip ups, or at least just one. Sometimes more of a hassle than it's worth if I want to concentrate on hunting through the hole. I use a HT Insta Shak as my darkhouse. It's a pop up hub style. I also have a larger permanent shanty we will at times set up strictly to spear out of.  I don't have a ice saw but my Husqvarna works well enough. Tongs? Nope. I try to cut the ice block in half and lob it up on top. Always mark your hole well when you are done!!!

Same set up as you.  Spear every chance I get out of my clam, run tip ups as well.
